StarTime Coaches
StarTime Coaches are experienced industry professionals with a passion for coaching and mentoring young people in the performing arts in a safe and supportive environment.
Each StarTiime Coach is hand-picked for their specific skill set. They know what it is like to be on stage, or in front of a camera, that amazing mix of fear and excitement, and how to channel these feelings into a great performance.
All our coaches have passed the New South Wales Government's working with children check.

Lindsay Moss Lindsay’s unique combination of skills and experience means StarTime is able to develop fun and engaging workshops that are educational and relevant for students and a highly useful resource for teachers in helping them achieve learning outcomes.
Lindsay’s career has spanned almost 20 years in the Australian entertainment industry as a director, producer, actor and tutor. In 1995 he worked on Channel 10’s world wide hit: “Heartbreak High” as an Assistant Director and later produced and directed documentaries for Channel 9’s “Our World” program, TVC’s and corporate videos for some of Australia’s largest companies, including BHP, Goodman Fielder and ASX. In 2001 he graduated from the Actors Centre Australia (Adv. Dip. Acting), whose alumni include Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Lindsay has had roles on Home & Away, All Saints and in The Postcard Bandit. In 2009 he starred in the feature film Mortal Fools and now voices all the promo’s for Australia number 1 24 hour News Channel: ABC News 24.
As a teacher he worked with “Acting Up” at Fox studios and developed workshops for Brightstars. With his years of experience on both sides of the camera, he has become an industry expert in developing camera acting technique’s for young people. He formed StarTime Studios in 2006.
StarTime is Sydney’s leader in providing Acting for Camera courses for children and young people. StarTime has conducted cine-literacy workshops at Bourke Street School and Loreto Kirribilli. Lindsay was invited to present a “Coach the Coach” workshop at Drama NSW conference 2010. StarTime continues to provide performing arts workshops in some of Australia’s top schools including; SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Kambala, St Catherine’s, Cranbrook and Sydney Girls High, along with hundreds of after school workshops and holiday workshop camps. StarTime has recently expanded internationally and now provides workshops for international schools around the world.

Simon Freestone Simon Freestone has spent his life immersed in the fields of education and the performing arts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Newcastle, has trained with the prestigious Ecole Philippe Gaulier in London and is a Graduate of The Actors Centre (The Journey). For the past 20 years he has worked as an actor and a professional clown and has taught Drama, clowning and English to children across Australia, Europe and South America for various schools including ATYP and Kids Up Front. Simon is passionate teacher with the rare skill of combining learning with creativity and humor which is why he is one of StarTime’s most popular Coaches. Simon also teaches drama and English as a foreign language at adult learning centres and is currently studying film.

Yolanda Thomas Yolanda is the longest running HIP HOP teacher for Sydney Dance Company’s casual classes and specializes in teaching and building confidence in beginner dancers. Her motto is “So you think you CAN’T DANCE? BET I CAN TEACH YOU!” Her choreography has been seen on various film clips played on Video Hits, Channel V, Rage and Music Max. A highlight was working with dancers that appeared with Snoop Dog for MTV in Las Vegas. In 2011 she won Choreographer of the Year (junior div) for GROOVE- one of the biggest hip hop competitions in Australia, for her work with STARTIME KREW who competes at an international level. Yolanda choreographed and appeared in MTV‘s ‘Full Tank’. The segment featured Yolanda choreographing finalists of the Cleo Bachelor of the Year competition, who had NEVER danced before.
Yolanda’s musical theatre highlights include the role of Donna Sue Miller in GREASE the Arena Spectacular; she was also the understudy to Danni Minogue as Rizzo, with minimum crowds of 10,000 in Australia and 40,000 in N.Z. She has worked for artist such as Powder Finger, Wendy Matthews and Vanessa Amorosi on many live gigs and T.V appearances. She was the vocalist with rap group LA DI DA signed to Roadshow that had major radio airplay on 2Day fm’s Hot 30 Countdown. She recently returned from showcase gigs in L.A with her band Yolanda and the Stolen Boys. She has won 2 L.A MUSIC AWARDS and nominated for “Artist of the Year” for her EP ”Left me Doing Time” which debuted on the ARIA charts at #31.(available on ITunes and www.stolenboys.com ) Yolanda also received national exposure on FOX8 from auditioning for American CBS show Rockstar 2:Supernova

Richard Lovegrove Richard has been an actor for the past 13 years on the NSW Central Coast, Sydney and abroad. He has been trained in Drama for stage and screen, musical theatre, improvisation, physical comedy, dance (including jazz, modern contemporary, classical ballet, hip hop, funk, BDA tap and tap dog’s Pullers tap dancing), stilt acrobatics, fire dancing & fire breathing, juggling, balloon artistry, bullwhip cracking, etc. He is also an advanced combatant, fight co-ordinator, instructor and fight director recognised by the S.S.C.S., A.S.C.A. & S.A.F.D.I. and was one of the fight co-ordinators for the recent Ben Hur Stadium Spectacular at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. (Olympic Stadium) He has taught at primary and high schools throughout Sydney and the central coast for 8 years, both public and private. He has also taught for many other institutions such as Mad Cow Theatre Company, Kids Up Front, Danz Factory, Marni’s Studio of the Performing Arts, Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, StarTime Studios, Screenwise and NIDA. Richard has instructed people of all ages from children to adults in Improvised Comedy, Physical Theatre, Stage Combat, Acting for the Screen, Film Making, Editing, Cinematography and Directing. Richard recently made a television cooking show pilot with Monica Trapaga from Playschool that was picked up by a producer in New York.

Simone Dee Simone has been blessed to travel nationally and internationally, as a vocalist in; Musical Theatre, Television, Live performances, and Studio work. She has worked beside some amazing talent including: Anastassia, Stevie Wonder, Shirley Maclean, Glenn Shorrock, Marcia Hines, Jimmy Barnes, and Paul Mac. After working with Glenn Shorrock in “One for the Money” and “Two for the show” a musical based on Glenns’ Life, Simone joined the New York cast of “Beehive” – the musical, a story of the woman’s movement and music, through the 60’s. In the 90’s Simone was flown to London to join Australian Girl Group – “The Fabulous Singlettes” where 3 successful west-end seasons, hit of the “Edinburgh Festival”, and there own mini-series on the BBC – London. Later incorporated with touring, and television appearances throughout the UK and Europe, this ended up keeping Simone abroad for 3 years. On returning to Australia, Simone became a regular vocalist on “Burt Newtons’”-“Good Morning Australia” for 7 years, and then a vocalist in the original “Good News Week” TV show for 2 years, where she met up with Paul Mac, and the recording of his 1st 2 albums, followed by touring nationally for 2 years to promote the albums at Campuses, and to Stadium audiences. In 2003 Simone decided to return to London for another 5 years, where she got to perform alongside artists such as : Incognito, Roachford and Boney M, she was asked to perform at the Queens Gala Ball in Cairo – Egypt, open the Football grandfinal @ Wigan Stadium, and given prestigious residencies at “Quaglino’s Restauant” and the “606 Club – Chelsea” As well as corporate events for clients such as “Royal Bank of Scotland”, “Jamie Oliver” and “UPS internatonal Couriers”. Simone has returned recently to Sydney to continue working live as a performer/session singer, and has opened her own “Singing School/Recording Studio”. Working regularly with “Startime”on all their holiday workshops, and Saturday classes, teaching vocal technique, Musical theatre/Contemporary vocal.

Annaliese Szota With experience in TV, film, theatre, music performance and composition, Annaliese Szota is a graduate of distinction from the University of Wollongong’s Performance course. Most currently, Annaliese has been both employed as a childrens acting coach on the set of the Australian feature film "The Goddess" starring Ronan Keeting, Laura Michelle Kelly and Magda Szubanski. She has performed both her music compositions and devised theatrical pieces at both the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Snatch Paradise, and at the experimental theatre festival in Hanoi inZugzwang. She was a street performer, clown and suit character for over three years at Sydney’s Luna Park. She is about to release her second E.P Be The Happy People, recently completed a Sydney tour with Deborah Conway, and gets regular airplay on radio stations Australia wide.
Annaliese Szota is a bundle of energy and creativity. She is simply a great teacher and again has that special connection with young people that inspires them to be their best.

Josephine Ison A graduate from NIDA’s ‘The Singer Dancer Actor’, Josephine can currently be seen performing professionally in live stage shows for THE WIGGLES production company and is also currently employed as a voice artist for ‘Dorothy the Dinosaur.’ She is also soon to appearing in the the first television series of ‘The Kingdom of Paramithi’ (from the creators of The Wiggles) as ‘Princess Felicity’. Her Musical Theatre credits include several lead roles such as Belle in BEAUTY & THE BEAST, Diana Morales in A CHORUS LINE, Marcy Park in THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, as well as Mimi in RENT. Josephine also has had a significant amount of dance experience having studied at Brent Street and Newtown High School of Performing Arts. Josephine has taught various dance styles including Broadway Jazz, Funk, Hiphop, Tap, Classical Ballet and Contemoprary dance.

Lisa Viola Lisa Viola began singing professionally at age 14 when she was selected to do a state tour with ‘Girl Power’ a Spice Girls tribute show. By 18 she was ready to give live bands a try and was asked to join a glitzy and glamorous corporate band named Flirt. At age 21 Lisa decided that she had enjoyed her career in cover bands and turned her focus to the recording studio and song writing where on odd occasions she worked as a session singer and started her catalogue of original music. When asked what has been a highlight in her career as a vocalist she says ‘Every vocalist dreams of being the National Anthem singer at an exciting sporting event. I was asked to do just that at the National Basketball League Playoffs in 2009.’ Always the versatile performer, Lisa has trained in all facets of dance from an early age. She has worked professionally as a dancer, teacher and choreographer since age 15. From corporate functions to nightclubs and also television, her dance credits are some to be proud of. Lisa has received scholarships from international dance workshops and an array of trophies and awards for both her dancing and choreography at competitions and Eisteddfods. She has travelled internationally to work with the worlds finest choreographers and mentors.

Marika Aubrey Marika Aubrey is a graduate of Theatre Nepean. As an actress she has worked in all facets of the industry over the past 6 years. She has also worked as a children’s drama and music coach with Mountains Youth Theatre, Australian Theatre for Young People, Dramascene, and Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People across many disciplines - musical theatre, accents and dialects, improvisation, puppetry, storytelling and acting for stage and screen. Whilst visiting Korea in 2006, Marika became the first teacher of popular USA program ‘Music Together’ (0-6 yrs), leading small children and their carers in an extensive music program. She is currently a teacher of the ‘1-2-3 Sing With Me’ program across Northern Sydney. Last year Marika toured and performed 3 productions with Kookaburra: The National Musical Theatre Company, two of which were for children. The Emperor’s New Clothes - a musical fable for primary school age children and Songs for a New World for a high school audience. |

Sally Dulson A graduate of Theatre Nepean Sally has extensive acting, voice and dance training as well as a brown belt in martial arts. Roles Sally has played in the past include Viola in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Major Catapillar in the physical theatre performance of Alice in Wonderland, Stilt walker Sally on Saturday Disney and most recently Underbelly The Golden Mile. On most weekends you can find Sally at Sydney's Luna Park clowning around in character suits or stilt walking as one of the members of Icarus Performance Troupe. In June Sally will be touring Melbourne for 3 months with children's tours company Alpha Shows. |
